New Delhi: Umar Khalid, an accused in the 2020 Northeast Delhi riots 'larger conspiracy' case, continues to face allegations as a Delhi court rejected his bail plea.

Earlier, on February 15, Khalid withdrew his bail plea from the Supreme Court, with his lawyer, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, stating they would "try their luck in the trial court."

Former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Khalid, booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for his alleged involvement in the case, had previously argued in the Delhi court that other accused individuals facing more serious allegations than him were out on bail, and that some people allegedly involved in similar activities had not been charged by the Delhi Police.
