Delivery man beaten to death in a road rage incident in Delhi

New Delhi: Two men have been arrested on Sunday for allegedly beating to death a 39-year-old delivery man in Delhi's Ranjeet Nagar on Saturday night.

Manish Kumar (19) and Lalchand (20) allegedly attacked delivery man Pankaj Thakur after an argument had broken out between them over giving way for a car here.

Thakur, who is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter, was found unconscious beside his scooter near Ranjeet Nagar Main Market late on Saturday night, NDTV reported. Thakur's body was covered with several injury marks, police reportedly said.

Residents in the neigbhourhood rushed to his help, taking him to hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police identified him by documents he was carrying, which gave away that he was a shop assistant who delivered groceries.

After checking the CCTV footages in the area, police zeroed in on two men getting out of a car and engaging in an argument with Thakur, before beating him until he collapsed.

Police identified the accused and reached their homes only to see that they had already fled.

Eventually, a massive search led to their arrest on Sunday afternoon.

The accused stated to the police that as they were driving in an alley they found Thakur standing in the way with his scooter.

When an argument broke out after they asked him to give way, the two men got out of the car and pushed Thakur’s scooter, leading to fight.

When Thakur collapsed, the two men reportedly fled the scene. Police have started a further probe into the murder and seized the vehicle.
