Hyderabad: The Telangana government asked Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh not to sing songs promoting alcohol, drugs and violence at his 'Dil-Luminati' concert in Hyderabad scheduled on Friday. The state government sent him a notice in this regard, NDTV reported.

It is learned the notice was served after a Chandigarh-based professor, Panditrao Dharenavar, filed a complaint against Dosanjh over the singing of such songs at live shows.

According to the notice issued on November 7 by the district welfare officer of the Department of Welfare of Women and Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens, Rangareddy district, Telangana, video evidence was submitted by the professor showing the singer singing songs promoting alcohol, drugs, and violence during the live show at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 26 and 27.

The notice also mandated Dosanjh not to bring children to the stage during the concert. The notice said that according to the World Health Organisation, adults should not be exposed to sounds over 140 decibels and children over 120 decibels. The notice also noted that his concerts breach the 120 decibels mark.

The notice said that Dosanjh's concert guidelines say that children are allowed below 13 years of age, and the event includes loud sounds and flashing lights. It said both are harmful to children.

Dosanjh's concert is scheduled at the GMR Arena on Friday around 7 pm. Cyberabad police commissioner Avinash Mohanty said that the crowd is expected to be over 20,000 people, and police personnel were deployed in traffic, crowd control and crime, though there are no specific curbs from the police's side.
