Chennai: The Madras High Court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to actors Srikanth and Krishna, who were arrested in a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, PTI reported.

The judge granted bail on the conditions that they should execute a bond for Rs 10,000 with two sureties for a like sum, and they should appear before the Nungambakkam police every day until further orders.

It was last month the two actors were arrested, but on separate days. Actor Krishna was arrested along with one Jesveer, a drug peddler.

According to police, seven individuals were taken into custody in relation to the drug abuse case, and they include one Prasad, who is a former functionary of the AIADMK party. The case started after all the detainees were involved in a pub brawl that happened in the Tamil Nadu capital. Police informed that they recovered 0.5 grams of cocaine, 10.3 grams of methamphetamine, 2.75 grams of MDMA, 2.4 grams of OG ganja and 30 grams of ganja from Jesveer, aka Kevin.

A police statement said that arrested actor Krishna purchased drugs from Kevin, consumed them and shared them with friends. He was also in contact with known drug peddlers through WhatsApp. Police add that the findings support scientific evidence, including money transactions.

Srikanth was remanded to judicial custody till July 7.
