Kangana Ranaut, CISF constable

New Delhi: Several farmer organizations on Friday voiced their support for a CISF woman constable who allegedly slapped actor and BJP MP-elect Kangana Ranaut, demanding a thorough investigation into the incident.

Ranaut, in a video message on Thursday, claimed she was slapped and verbally abused by the constable during a security check at Chandigarh airport. The altercation occurred two days after Ranaut was elected to the Lok Sabha from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha were among the key groups backing the constable. The constable, who reportedly disagreed with Ranaut's stance on the farmers’ protests, has been suspended, and an investigation has been initiated. The CISF, responsible for airport security, has also ordered a court of inquiry.

SKM (Non-Political) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee general secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher announced plans to meet Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav to ensure a fair investigation. “We will demand a proper investigation and insist that the woman constable is treated justly,” Dallewal said during a press conference with Pandher and other farmer leaders. On June 9, an "Insaaf march" will be held in Mohali, culminating at the senior superintendent of police’s office, to demand fair treatment for the constable.

In a video statement titled “Shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab,” posted on X after arriving in Delhi, Ranaut stated that she was safe and unharmed.
