New Delhi: The central government has agreed to a 16-hour discussion in the Lok Sabha on Operation Sindoor and the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. Probably the debate is expected to take place next week, neglecting the insists from the opposition.

During the Business Advisory Committee meeting on Monday, government representatives informed that the discussion could only be held next week as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to leave on a foreign trip this week. Opposition members, however, demanded that the debate begin immediately and insisted that the Prime Minister respond to the issue directly in the House.

The opposition also criticized the government for excluding the issue from this week's agenda and stressed that both the home minister and defense minister should be present during the debate.

Some opposition leaders additionally demanded discussions on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and the continuing crisis in Manipur.
