New Delhi: Six persons imprisoned for their alleged role in the Delhi riot case have obtained bail from the Delhi High Court. Justice Subramonium Prasad granted bail to Mohd. Tahir, Shahrukh, Mohd. Faizal, Mohd. Shoaib, Rahid, and Parvez, who have been arrested for the death of Dilbar Negi on February 25.

Negi worked at Anil Sweet shop. He went for lunch on February 25 and was unable to locate him until the midnight.

Police sources said that a dead body was found at Anil Sweets godown in the afternoon of February 26 and was later identified as Negi. He belonged to Uttarakhand and came to Delhi six months prior to incident.

Police sources asserted that the agitated mob targeted the properties of Hindus, including the aforementioned shop, a bookshop, DRP School, and godown of Anil Sweets and others by torching them and the mob of the same rioters remained active till late night.

The FIR stated that the accused were charged under Section 147 (Punishment for rioting), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (Unlawful assembly), 302 (Murder), 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence), 436 (Mischief by fire) and 427 (Mischief causing damage) of IPC at Gokulpuri police station.

Initially, 12 accused persons were charge-sheeted in the case in 2020.
