New Delhi: The Indian External Affairs Ministry informed on Friday that the country has requested Pakistan for the extradition of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed to face trial in the case, The Indian Express reported.

External Affairs Ministry (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a press briefing that Saeed is wanted in numerous cases in India while he is a UN-declared terrorist. He said that the government has conveyed Government of Pakistan the request, adding relevant supporting documents.

Pakistan had jailed Saeed in 2019 after he was convicted on multiple terror finance cases. The founder of Lashjar-e-Taiba (LeT), has jailed along with other leaders of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), a banned group.

JuD, led by Saeed who has a USD 10 million bounty on his head, was the front organization for LeT. The LeT is responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attack. The attack had killed 166 people including six Americans.
