Indian Navy was ready to hit targets in Pakistan during Op Sindoor: report

New Delhi: The Indian Navy fleet were on standby during the intense moments of India’s military action against Pakistan’s terror camps, reveals NDTV.

During Operation Sindoor, Navy was assigned targets to attack inside Pakistan but the order for carrying it out never came.

‘The Navy stopped short of launching an attack on identified targets. This included Pakistan Navy ships and submarines in harbour and land-based targets,’ NDTV quoted the source as saying.

The targets to attack included Pak Navy ships at Karachi harbour using BrahMos missiles along with cruise missiles, believed to be of the Klub series and also India's Russian built 'Kilo' Class submarines.

‘Both warships and submarines were in position to launch anti-ship and land attack missiles,’ it is reported citing the source.

Pakistan’s fleet including frigates and corvettes were still within the harbour without venturing out during the conflict.

Many of these ships would have sunk at port, if Indian Navy got the order to act, according to NDTV.

India’s INS Vikrant carrier battle group with MiG-29K fighter-jets gave the country dominance over the North Arabian Sea and airspace off the Southern coast of Pakistan.

‘The presence of the Carrier Battle Group also kept the pressure on Pakistani air assets, with literally nil presence over sea,’ the source reportedly said.

Even after the conflict came to an end, INS Vikrant battle tracked for a few days Pakistan’s RAS-72 Sea Eagle, which is a maritime patrol version of the ATR-72 turbo-prop aircraft.

The Indian Navy MiG-29K forced the Pak Navy aircraft to return after it positioned itself just a few hundred metres of the Pak Navy aircraft.

India carried out a series of missile strikes targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan responding to the terrorist attack at Pahalgam on April 22, killing 26 civilians.
