New Delhi: An IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam declared a mid-air technical snag—engine failure suspected—forcing an emergency landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport at 10:54 a.m.

Flight 6E 579, a Boeing 737 wet-leased from Turkey’s Corendon Airlines with 161 aboard, touched down safely on runway 28 after a full emergency at 10:39 a.m. All passengers and crew unharmed; no aircraft damage.

Delhi Fire Service rushed tenders; Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) activated protocols. Operations normalized swiftly, per Ministry of Civil Aviation.

An IndiGo official said the airline places the safety of passengers and crew at the forefront, adding that all necessary precautions and standard operating procedures were followed after the snag was detected, and the pilots requested priority landing at IGI airport.
