Saharanpur: A probe has been ordered against Saharanpur’s Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Santosh Bahadur Singh following allegations of misconduct made by Samajwadi Party MP Iqra Hasan. The Kairana MP accused the senior official of behaving rudely and disrespectfully during a visit to his office earlier this month.

The incident reportedly took place on July 1, when Hasan, accompanied by Shamalpur Nagar Panchayat chairperson Shama Parveen, visited the ADM’s office to raise issues concerning her constituency. Hasan claimed that their initial attempt to meet Singh was declined, citing his lunch break, and they were asked to submit their grievances in writing.

Upon returning around 3 pm, Hasan alleged that Singh displayed an uncooperative attitude, reprimanded Parveen, and ordered them both to leave the office when she intervened to request a hearing.

Following the encounter, Hasan lodged a formal complaint with Uttar Pradesh’s Principal Secretary and Saharanpur Divisional Commissioner Atal Kumar Rai. In response, Rai directed Saharanpur District Magistrate Manish Bansal to initiate a detailed inquiry.

“The matter is being looked into. A report regarding the incident will be sent to the government once the investigation is completed,” said Bansal.

The incident drew political backlash, with SP chief Akhilesh Yadav taking to X to criticise the administration: “Those who do not respect Member of Parliament, what will they do to public.”

Iqra Hasan also condemned the behaviour on X, stating, “The government claims to be women-friendly but the officers are acting recklessly with their anti-women mentality. Action should be taken against such officers.”

ADM Santosh Bahadur Singh has denied all allegations. Speaking to the media, he mentioned that he was on field duty when Hasan first arrived. “I swiftly reached the office and invited her to my office and asked her to give her complaint in writing. The allegations that I misbehaved with her are baseless,” he said.
