Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police's cadaver dogs to assist in Telangana tunnel collapse rescue operation, announces state government on Thursday.

The cadaver dogs, specially trained to locate missing humans and human bodies, and the officers handling them left for Hyderabad on Thursday morning, the Kerala government said in a statement.

The dogs were deployed to the rescue operation after the State Disaster Management Authority, acting on a request from the National Disaster Management Authority, sought their assistance, according to the statement.

A rescue operation is underway in Telangana's Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project tunnel, where 8 people, including engineers and labourers, have been trapped since February 22. Experts from various agencies, including the NDRF, Army, and Navy, are working tirelessly to rescue them.
