New Delhi: The Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the Finance Bill 2026, incorporating 32 amendments proposed by the government, thereby completing its part of the Budget approval process.

The Bill will now be taken up by the Rajya Sabha for consideration. Once approved by the Upper House, the Budget process for the financial year 2026–27 will be concluded.

The Union Budget 2026–27 outlines a total expenditure of ₹53.47 lakh crore, marking a 7.7 per cent increase over the current fiscal year ending March 31. It proposes a capital expenditure of ₹12.2 lakh crore for the next financial year.

The Budget also estimates gross tax revenue at ₹44.04 lakh crore and projects gross borrowing at ₹17.2 lakh crore. The fiscal deficit for 2026–27 is pegged at 4.3 per cent of Gross Domestic Product, slightly lower than the 4.4 per cent estimated for the ongoing fiscal.
