New Delhi: The national emblem on the roof of the new Parliament building was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.

According to officials, the bronze emblem weighs 9,500 kg and has a height of 6.5 metres.

It was cast on top of the central foyer of the new Parliament building, and a support structure of 6,500 kilograms of steel was built to support the emblem, they said. Modi also interacted with the workers that were involved in the construction of the new parliament, PTI reported.

The conceptual sketch and process for placing the national emblem on the roof of the new Parliament building went through eight different stages, from clay modelling to computer graphics.
