NIA conducts raids at 22 locations across five states and J&K
text_fieldsSrinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday launched searches at 22 locations across five states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with terror funding cases.
Raids were carried out in Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, as well as in several areas of Kashmir, including Budgam, Kulgam, Pattan, Pulwama and Kangan. Officials said the searches were conducted with the assistance of local police and the CRPF.
The agency is probing multiple high-profile cases linked to terror financing and targeted killings. Among these is the June 9, 2024 attack in Reasi district, where nine pilgrims were killed and several others injured. The NIA has already arrested individuals accused of sheltering the terrorists involved.
The agency is also investigating the April 22, 2025 assault by Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including 25 tourists and a local pony owner.
On July 28, 2025, three LeT terrorists identified as Suleman, Jibran and Hamza Afghani, allegedly behind the Pahalgam attack, were killed in an operation by security forces in the Dachigam National Park area of Srinagar. The Army named the action ‘Operation Mahadev’. Officials said the trio were identified and tracked using photographs retrieved from a mobile phone seized during an earlier encounter in south Kashmir.
