NIA raids 32 locations in J&K targeting Pak-backed terror network
text_fieldsSrinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out extensive raids across the Kashmir Valley as part of its ongoing probe into a major terror conspiracy orchestrated by Pakistan-based banned terrorist groups and their affiliates aimed at destabilising Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.
In a statement, the agency confirmed that searches were conducted at 32 locations across the Union Territory. These included the residential premises of suspected hybrid terrorists and overground workers linked to various terrorist offshoots, including The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ-&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, and PAAF. These outfits are affiliated with proscribed organisations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Al-Badr, among others.
According to the NIA, those targeted in the raids are suspected of facilitating terrorist operations by aiding in the transportation and distribution of sticky bombs, magnetic IEDs, arms, ammunition, funds, and narcotics. The agency noted that these individuals are being closely monitored for their involvement in various acts supporting terrorism.
The statement said that the Pakistan-based leadership of these outfits is actively radicalising local youth and mobilising overground workers to carry out violent acts aimed at disturbing peace and communal harmony in the region. Social media platforms and online apps are reportedly being used to coordinate and propagate terror activities, while drones have been deployed to deliver weapons, explosives, and narcotics to operatives within Kashmir.
During Thursday's raids, officials recovered two live cartridges, one spent bullet head, and a bayonet. Additionally, several digital devices containing significant volumes of incriminating data and documents were seized. The agency said these will undergo detailed analysis to uncover further links in the conspiracy.
The NIA affirmed that investigations into the case are ongoing.
