London/ New Delhi: Nirav Modi, accused in a money laundering case pertaining to loans from Punjab National Bank, would be handed over to India. India's request to hand over the business tycoon has been accepted by Westminster court in London.

The Court discarded Nirav Modi's claims of health-related issues. Prima facie, it is evident that the accusations against Nirav Modi are valid, the Court noted. The Court also observed that the allegations must be tried in India.

CBI, in the request submitted to the London court, clarified that Nirav Modi and uncle Mehul Choksy absconded from the country after laundering 12,600 crores from Punjab National Bank.

With the case, Nirav's assets were seized by the Enforcement Directorate. Interpol also issued a red corner notice against Nirav's wife.
