Only Congress can defeat BJP-RSS, says Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat

Modasa: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday asserted that despite a sense of demoralisation among party workers in Gujarat, it is only the Congress that has the strength to defeat the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

During his second visit to Gujarat within a week, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha reaffirmed the Congress party’s commitment to challenge and defeat the ruling BJP, which has held power in the state for nearly three decades.

Speaking at a gathering of booth-level Congress workers in Modasa town, located in Gujarat’s Arvalli district, Gandhi launched a pilot initiative aimed at strengthening the party’s district units. This effort is part of the Congress's broader strategy to rebuild and reorganise its presence in the state, ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

“Gujarat is the most important state for the Congress party,” Gandhi said, addressing the workers. “Although we appear demoralised here, we will defeat the BJP. I have come here to assure you—it is not difficult. We will definitely accomplish this task. Only the Congress party can defeat the RSS and the BJP.”

Gandhi's remarks signal a renewed focus on Gujarat, where the Congress once held significant political ground, and reflect the party’s efforts to energise its grassroots network to prepare for future electoral battles.
