Mathura: More than a dozen residents of Krishna Lok Housing Society suffered diarrhoea after drinking from a contaminated overhead tank, officials reported.

The incident unfolded on Wednesday, May 6, at the society located along the Delhi-Agra highway, opposite Jait police station. Chief Medical Officer Dr Radha Vallabh noted that victims experienced stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhoea, prompting a rapid response from a nearby community health centre team.

Epidemiology experts from the district headquarters later assessed the patients, distributed medicines, and confirmed that all affected individuals—including children and the elderly—have recovered, with the situation now stabilised.

A preliminary probe pinpointed irregular tank cleaning by the society's management as the cause. Health officials' inspection uncovered bird droppings, monkey waste, and insects inside, sparking the outbreak.
