Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Yellow Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru ushering in a ‘game-changer’ for Bengaluru's southern transport network.

The 19.15-km corridor, which links RV Road in South Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the east, featuring 16 elevated stations, will reportedly ease the city’s increasing traffic jams to a great extent, according to NDTV.

Built at Rs 7,160 crore, the new line will help eight lakh commuters every day by boosting connectivity to Silk Board Junction, BTM Layout, Electronic City, and Bommasandra Industrial Area that house employers like Infosys, Biocon, and TCS.

The corridor, connecting residential areas with tech parks and manufacturing zones, will help commuters save considerable travel time while decongesting the city’s traffic jams especially the Silk Board junction.

It is reported that Commercial services will begin on Monday, August 11 initially with three driverless trains plying every 25 minutes between 5:00 am and 11:00 pm.

One-way fares in accordance with the Namma Metro pricing will range from Rs 10 to Rs 90.

Alongside flagging off the Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express, PM Modi lay foundation stone to Phase 3 of Namma Metro here.

The 44.65-km expansion worth Rs 15,610 crore will further support 25 lakh residents in southern Bengaluru.
