PM Modi spends a whopping Rs 362 Cr for foreign trips in 5 years!
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited 33 countries in the past 5 years, costing the Centre a whopping Rs 362 crore, according to data shared in the Rajya Sabha.
The PM incurred Rs 67 crore through his foreign trips in 2025 alone, when the figures of spending on his trip to countries like Mauritius, Cyprus, and Canada are still pending, and another five months are left in the year, according to a report by India Today, citing the data shared in Parliament. In 2025, the most expensive trip was to France, which cost the Centre Rs 25 crore. The trip to the US cost the 2nd largest amount, Rs 16 crore.
Minister of State of External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh provided the data to the Upper House in response to a question by Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien.
The data further states that Modi spent Rs 106 crore in 2024 on his travels to 16 countries, including Russia and Ukraine. It was Rs 93 crore in 2023, when the figures were Rs 55.82 crore and Rs 36 crore in 2022 and 2021, respectively.
In 2023, the Centre spent Rs 22 crore for Modi’s visit to the US, where he met with then-President Joe Biden. In 2021, his trip to America cost Rs 19 crore.
In 2021, Modi visited Bangladesh, Italy and the UK, contributing to more spending. In 2022, notable expenses were his trip to Germany and Japan, which cost Centre, Rs 9 crore and Rs 8 crore respectively.
The data shared in the Rajya Sabha included spending on public engagements, advertising, and broadcasting costs associated with the Prime Minister's international trips. A 2023 visit to Egypt cost a whopping Rs 11.90 lakh on advertising alone, the data states.
