New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on Saturday to launch and lay the foundation for development initiatives valued at around Rs 2,200 crore.

He is scheduled to address a public gathering at 11 a.m. and release the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Under this instalment, over Rs 20,500 crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of more than 9.7 crore farmers across the country.

As part of the visit, Modi will inaugurate the widening and strengthening of major roads, including the Varanasi–Bhadohi and Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar roads. He will also open a railway over bridge at Hardattpur, aimed at easing congestion on the Mohan Sarai–Adalpura route.

Foundation stones will be laid for several infrastructure works, such as road upgrades in Dalmandi, Lahartara–Kotwa, Gangapur and Babatpur. Plans also include new railway over bridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard to improve connectivity.

To modernize the city’s power network, the prime minister will launch electricity projects worth over Rs 880 crore, including the Smart Distribution Project and the undergrounding of overhead cables.

Tourism and cultural heritage projects will also be unveiled, such as the redevelopment of eight riverfront Kuccha Ghats, the beautification of the pond and ghat at Rangildas Kutiya in Shivpur, and the restoration of the historic Durgakund.

He will also lay foundation stones for the restoration of Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple, development of Karkhiyaon, the birthplace of prominent freedom fighters, and the conversion of author Munshi Premchand’s ancestral home in Lamahi into a museum.
