Jaipur: A Rajasthan state government employee was detained in Jaisalmer on Wednesday night on suspicion of espionage for Pakistan, officials confirmed on Thursday.

Shakur Khan, who is employed at the district employment office, was taken into custody by an intelligence department team acting on security-related intelligence inputs. During the investigation, authorities discovered phone numbers linked to Pakistan stored on his mobile device.

"There were specific inputs indicating that Shakur Khan might be involved in spying activities for Pakistan. He was placed under surveillance based on these inputs and was detained last night," an official stated.

Following a joint interrogation in Jaisalmer, the team, along with Khan, proceeded to Jaipur, where central agencies are scheduled to conduct further questioning on Thursday.
