SC asks Ramdev to appear over Patanjali’s misleading ads
cancel

New Delhi: The Supreme Court asked Yoga guru Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna to appear in person for proceedings on Patanjali Ayurved’s misleading advertisements.

The apex court was hearing a plea of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) alleging a smear campaign by Ramdev against the vaccination drive and modern medicines.

Judges Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah's bench expressed strong disapproval of the company and Balkrishna's failure to respond to earlier notices from the court explaining why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them for breaking the undertaking given to the court.

The court also said that it was not going to postpone the hearing of the case.

Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna are prima facie in violation of Sections 3 and 4 of the Drugs and Remedies Act.
