SC to hear pleas on NEET-PG evaluation transparency on August 3
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday scheduled August 3 as the date to hear a batch of petitions raising concerns over the transparency of the NEET-PG examination evaluation process, particularly concerning the release of answer keys and assessment methods.
A bench comprising Justices K Vinod Chandran and NV Anjaria briefly heard the pleas before fixing the matter for detailed consideration early next month.
One of the petitions, filed through advocate Tanvi Dubey, challenges the alleged opacity in the evaluation system of NEET-PG, which is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The petition seeks several directions aimed at enhancing transparency and fairness in the evaluation process.
Among the key demands, the petitioners have sought the release of question papers and answer keys to candidates, as well as the disclosure of which questions were deemed correct or incorrect by evaluators. It also calls for a revaluation or rechecking of scores in cases where discrepancies are found.
The plea further requests that candidates be given the opportunity to challenge disputed questions or answers and seeks the institution of a transparent, accountable evaluation mechanism for both current and future NEET-PG examinations.
The petition argues that the existing lack of transparency undermines the credibility of such a high-stakes examination and infringes on the rights of candidates, potentially affecting their future opportunities in the medical field.
