SC refuses to consider plea on extending internship cut off for NEET PG
cancel

NEW DELHI: The plea seeking an extension of the internship cut-off for candidates appearing for the NEET PG test scheduled for June 23rd this year has been squashed by the Supreme Court.

After hearing the submissions for some time, a bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said it could not extend.

"I mean people are bound to fall on the side of a particular line when there is a cut-off," the CJI said.

The bench dismissed the petition, deeming it to be an issue falling strictly within the policy domain. However, the Court granted the petitioners permission to approach the relevant authorities based on previous representations that have already been submitted.

The bench directed that: "The fixation of a cut-off for appearing in the NEET-PG Examination is a matter of policy. Any cut-off would affect students. It will be open to the Petitioners to pursue the representations within one week."
