Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Cabinet adopted the final draft of the Uniform Civil Code here, opening the way for its presentation in the state Assembly's special four-day session, which begins on Monday.

On Sunday, the Cabinet approved the UCC draft during a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his official residence.

A five-member team led by former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai delivered the final draft of the UCC to Dhami here on Friday, totalling 740 pages in four volumes, the New Indian Express reported.

The Assembly has called a special session to approve legislation pertaining to the UCC specifically.

It had to be approved by the state government before being introduced in the House.
