New Delhi: The Twitter handles belonging to the Uttar Pradesh government and Punjab Congress were hacked early on Monday. Hackers made both handles to share posts relating to cryptocurrencies and NFTs (non-fungible tokens), The Indian Express reported.

The UP government restored the account, which has more than 2.7 million followers, was restored shortly after, while Punjab Congress deleted the posts on NFT trading and reinstated its profile picture. The Punjab Congress handle, which has 1,84,900 followers, was spammed with tweets tagging crypto-related handles.

It was two days ago, the Twitter account of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's office got hacked. Hackers had replaced the account's profile picture with a cartoon. They also posted more than 300 tweets on the account and deleted some old tweets.

On Saturday, the Twitter handles of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India and the India Meteorological Department were also briefly hacked.
