Thiruvananthapuram: A British F-35 fighter jet made an emergency landing at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Saturday night after it reportedly ran low on fuel, according to official sources.

The jet, believed to have taken off from an aircraft carrier, landed safely at approximately 9.30 pm. Airport authorities promptly declared an emergency to facilitate a smooth and safe landing.

"The pilot reported low fuel and sought permission to land. The situation was managed swiftly and professionally," a source at the airport said on Sunday.

The aircraft is currently stationed at the airport, awaiting further instructions. Refuelling will be carried out once the necessary approvals are obtained from the relevant authorities in the Central government, the sources added.
