Malappuram: An Air India Express flight bound for Doha from Calicut International Airport returned to the airport two hours after take-off on Wednesday due to a technical fault, according to airport officials.

Flight IX 375, carrying 188 people, including pilots and crew, took off from Calicut at approximately 9:07 a.m. but returned around 11:12 a.m. following the detection of a technical issue in the aircraft’s cabin air-conditioning system. Officials clarified that it was not an emergency landing.

Passengers were safely deboarded, and airport authorities said that the issue would either be resolved or an alternative aircraft would be arranged to resume the journey.

An Air India Express spokesperson described the incident as a “precautionary landing” prompted by a technical error. The airline has made arrangements for another flight to depart by 1:30 p.m., and passengers have been provided with food and water at the airport while they wait.
