‘Fraternity’ blocks screening of ‘The Kerala Story 2’

Police stopped a protest march organised by the Fraternity Movement at a theatre in Edappal, Malappuram, where ‘The Kerala Story’ was being screened.
Thiruvananthapuram: The Fraternity Movement organised statewide protests against The Kerala Story 2, alleging that the film promotes Islamophobic and Hindutva-driven communal propaganda targeting Kerala.
Following Fraternity’s announcement that it would block the 7:30 p.m. Saturday's show at theatres in Kozhikode, theatre owners said the screening was cancelled. They noted that Fraternity had earlier marched to the same theatre when ‘The Kerala Story’ was screened there.
In Malappuram and Kannur districts, screenings were also cancelled at several theatres due to Fraternity’s protests.
District committees organised protest marches during showtimes in Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad, Ernakulam, and Edappal, Malappuram.
Fraternity Movement state president Naeem Gafoor said the film is overtly anti-Muslim, vilifies an entire community, and spreads false narratives about Kerala, warning that it could fuel social hatred and tensions.
