Kerala government on Wednesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking six more months to complete the trial in the actress abduction case. Fresh disclosures have happened in the infamous case in which popular actor Dileep stands accused.

In September 2021, the apex court had granted the government extension for the third time till February 16, 2022.

Last week, Director Balachandra Kumar, also a close friend of the accused, said that Dileep saw the visuals of the assault soon after he was released on bail. The visuals were given to the actor by a VIP, and he was in the know about it, he said. Only the trial court has seen these visuals till now. The police probe team has sought permission from the court to take a statement from Kumar in light of the reveal.

It has been almost five years since the actress was abducted and assaulted in a moving car in Kochi on February 17, 2017. Dileep was arrested in July 2017 in the case and then later released on bail. Named as a conspirator, he has been charged with 'revenge crime'.
