Kerala transport bus falls into gorge in Idukki, killing 4; 2 critical

Idukki/Kerala: A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus fell into a gorge in the state’s hilly district of Idukki, killing at least four people Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Arun Hari (55), Rama Mohan (40), Sangeeth (45), and Bindu (59) in the accident that happened in Pullupara around 6:15 am.

There were 34 people on board the bus who were tourists travelling from Thanjavur to Mavelikkara. The injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital, and two among them are in critical condition, it is learnt. The rescue effort is still underway.

The state transport bus fell into a 30-foot gorge near Pullupara, which is between the towns of Kuttikanam and Mundakayam in the district.
