text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: The National Service Scheme (NSS) units across Kerala have donated over ₹4.5 crore to support the state government’s rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in the landslide-affected villages of Mundakkai and Chooralmala in Wayanad district.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Tuesday, the funds will be used specifically for building houses within a township planned by the government as part of the ongoing rehabilitation drive in the region.
The amount was raised through a series of innovative fundraising activities conducted by NSS units statewide. These included initiatives such as the waste paper challenge, biryani challenge, art exhibition, food festival, and Onam celebration.
The NSS has also launched the next phase of its contribution to the rehabilitation project, which will run for one month starting Tuesday, the statement added.
