Remarks against Kerala Muslims: Hindutva group backs Vellappally

Kozhikode: The Hindu Aikya Vedi has also come out in support of SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan, who made hateful remarks against Kerala Muslims while delivering a speech in Kottayam district recently. Vellappally's statement that religious domination prevails over democracy in Kerala is a present-day reality, Hindu Aikya Vedi State President RV Babu claimed.

Babu claimed that there is a population imbalance in Kerala, suggesting that the Muslim population is increasing. He claimed that this imbalance is increasing at a rapid pace, which will have serious consequences. Kerala will become a Muslim-majority state by 2040, and it should be taken seriously, he said.

The Hindutva leader, known for his controversial statements against Muslims and arrest for the same, claimed that some, who are a minority, are trying to hijack democracy in the state with their organised religious power. The ruling and opposition parties were ready to act according to this religious power’s whims, the Hindutva leader claimed.

Earlier, Kerala Minister V N Vasavan praised Vellappally at a felicitation ceremony held in Kochi. He said that the Ezhava leader is an imaginative leader who is creating history at a time when he should be leading a relaxed life. Moreover, Vellapplly had turned the organisation SNDP, which was in total disorder, back into order.

Vellappally's remark was that the Muslim population in Kerala is increasing and that the Ezhava community is getting importance only in the employment guarantee scheme. The trend of things is confirming what CPI(M) stalwart and former chief minister of Kerala, VS Achuthanandan, had said earlier, that Kerala would become a Muslim-majority state, he claimed. He went on to say that the Left government in Kerala is in a situation where it has decided to govern the state as Kerala Sunni Muslim leader Kanthapuram bids.
