Thiruvananthapuram: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is set to arrive in Kerala on Sunday for a two-day official visit, during which he will offer prayers at the Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple and interact with students and faculty at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS).

He will land at the Southern Naval Command Airport in Kochi on Sunday afternoon and stay overnight in the city. Accompanying him is his wife, Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar. On Monday morning, the Vice President will travel to Thrissur to offer prayers at the renowned Guruvayur temple before returning to Kochi for scheduled engagements with the academic community.

At 10:40 a.m. on Monday, Vice President Dhankhar will visit the NUALS campus in Kalamassery, where he is expected to interact with students and faculty. The session will centre around contemporary legal education, constitutional values, and the vital role of youth in strengthening democratic institutions.

In anticipation of the visit, Kochi City Police have announced special traffic arrangements to ensure smooth movement and heightened security. Traffic restrictions will be enforced from 2 p.m. on Sunday in key areas including the Naval Base, MG Road, High Court Junction, and the Bolgatty region.

Additional traffic curbs will be in effect on Monday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. along National Highway 544 and several locations around Kalamassery, including the SCMS–HMT junction, Seaport–Airport Road at Toshiba Junction, and Medical College Road leading to the NUALS campus.

Commuters have been advised to avoid these areas during the restricted hours and to cooperate with the police. Authorities have arranged alternative routes and diversions to reduce public inconvenience.

Vice President Dhankhar’s visit comes amid a growing emphasis on legal reforms and increased youth participation in democratic discourse. His address at NUALS is anticipated to encourage law students and shed light on constitutional governance and national development. Security measures have been strengthened across all venues, with senior police officials overseeing the arrangements to ensure a safe and smooth visit.
