ChatGpt discovers blood cancer in woman in France
text_fieldsParis: In France, a lady got diagnosed with cancer nearly a year after Chatgpt said that she might have the disease.
A year ago, the woman, identified as 27-year-old Marly Garnreiter, was experiencing persistent night sweats and itchy skin. She dismissed the symptoms as part of her grief after the death of her father, who died of colon cancer. Nothing came out of medical tests at that time, so she casually asked ChatGpt about the same.
The AI chatbot suggested that she might be suffering from blood cancer. But her friends were sceptical and advised her to rely on real doctors. So she decided to let it go, but her condition worsened after some time.
She felt increasing fatigue and chest pain and went back to the doctor again. When scans were taken, they revealed a large mass on her left lung, and the final diagnosis turned out to reveal that she was suffering from Hodgkin lymphoma. It is a type of blood cancer that originates in the white blood cells. A year ago, ChatGpt found that she was suffering from the same condition.
She was forced to start chemo roughly a year after she lost her father to cancer.
Hodgkin lymphoma is less common than non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but chances for successful treatment are very high. Cleveland Clinic says that the five-year survival rate stands at over 80%. Its symptoms are fatigue, night sweats, itchy skin, and persistent fever.
