Kochi: Air Kerala, the first airline promoted from Kerala, officially inaugurated its corporate office near Aluva Metro Station in Kochi. The inauguration ceremony was conducted by State Industries Minister P. Rajeeve in the presence of several dignitaries.

Members of Parliament Hibi Eden and Benny Behanan, MLAs Anwar Sadath and Roji M. John, Aluva Municipal Chairman M.O. John and Vice Chairperson Saiji Jolly, along with Riyas Kilton—Vice Chairman of International Business Promotions (IPA) and CMD of Kiltons Business Setup—were among those who extended their wishes. Sayyid Munavvar Ali Shihab Thangal was also present. IPA mementos were handed over to Air Kerala officials by Riyas Kilton.

Speaking at the event, Minister Rajeeve expressed his hope that Air Kerala would emerge as a model for the nation, just as Kochi International Airport has. He extended his best wishes for the airline’s future endeavors.

During a subsequent press briefing, Air Kerala Chairman Afi Ahmed, Vice Chairman Ayyoob Kallada, CEO Hareesh Kutti, Legal Consultant C.S. Ashique and Capital Consultant Sreejith Kunniyil shared operational details and future plans.

The newly opened office spans three floors and is equipped with high quality training facilities. Designed to accommodate over 200 aviation professionals simultaneously, the facility reflects the airline’s vision towards excellence. Air Kerala aims to generate 750 jobs by the end of 2025.

Chairman Afi Ahmed announced that the airline’s first flight is expected to take off from Kochi in June 2025. Initially, Air Kerala will operate as a low-cost carrier, with five aircraft leased through a deal with an Irish aviation company. Plans are also in place to acquire aircraft in the future.

The airline will primarily focus on connecting tier-2 and tier-3 cities in South and Central India with major metro cities. Air Kerala will use 72-seater ATR aircraft in an economy-class configuration.

“Our mission is to elevate Kerala’s name in the aviation sector and deliver world-class services. A leadership team with decades of industry experience is steering this initiative. By harnessing the latest technologies, Air Kerala will function as an ultra-low-cost airline,” said Chairman Afi Ahmed.

Vice Chairman Ayyoob Kallada emphasized the airline’s potential to contribute significantly to Kerala’s economic growth, employment generation and tourism. He also highlighted the airline’s goal to make air travel accessible for all, including the global Malayali diaspora.

“Our promise is to fly smart, spend less, and arrive on time,” said CEO Hareesh Kutti.

“Backed by a strong team and a long-term vision, we aim to become the most trusted airline in India. This is only the beginning”, he added.
