Israel threatens Houthis with “10 biblical plagues” after fresh missile attack

Israel’s Defense Minister issued a stark warning to Yemen’s Houthi rebels on Thursday, promising to unleash the biblical plagues in response to renewed missile fire.

“The Houthis are firing missiles at Israel again. A plague of darkness, a plague of the firstborn — we will complete all 10 plagues,” Israel Katz wrote on X.

His post referred to the disasters described in the Book of Exodus, when God struck Egypt with plagues to compel the pharaoh to free the jews.

The warning came after the Israeli army confirmed that a missile launched from Yemen struck outside Israeli territory on Thursday. A day earlier, two other missiles were intercepted.

The Iran-backed Houthis have vowed to intensify attacks on Israel. Their statement followed Israeli airstrikes last week that killed the Yemeni prime minister and 11 senior officials.

Since the Gaza war began in October 2023, the Houthis have repeatedly targeted Israel with drones and missiles, claiming the strikes are carried out in solidarity with Palestinians.

Israel, in turn, has launched several retaliatory operations in Yemen. These included strikes on Houthi-controlled ports and the rebel-held capital, Sanaa.
