Israeli settlers attack Israeli forces in occupied West Bank
text_fieldsTel Aviv: In a fresh incident that happened in Palestine’s occupied West Bank, Israeli settlers attacked Israeli soldiers when the latter attempted to prevent the former from entering the Palestinian village of Kafr Malik. The rogue Israeli civilians vandalised army vehicles and set them on fire.
When security forces moved towards a mob of settlers, they attacked it and turned aggressive. The army said it fired three shots into the air to disperse the mob. It apprehended six people over suspicion and turned them over to Israeli Police.
“The IDF and Israel Police condemn any act of violence against security forces and will act firmly against any attempt to harm security personnel carrying out their duty to protect Israeli citizens,” the IDF (Israel Defence Forces) said in a statement.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that there would be a thorough investigation into the attack on the Israeli army and that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. He claimed that attackers belonged to a small minority and did not represent the majority of the people of Israel.
Opposition leader Yair Lapid said that the terrorists who attacked IDF soldiers who protected Israel's security in difficult days were dangerous criminals who were helping Israel's enemies.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Authority presidency spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeena said that the incident was a conspiracy by the right-wing government in Israel. He said that the Zionist nation's administration wanted to bring the West Bank to a larger confrontation.
Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump on Sunday urged progress in ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza war, calling for a deal to halt the nearly 20-month-long conflict as Israel and Hamas appeared to be moving closer to an agreement.
