Saudi: AlUla extends summer fruit market until Saturday
text_fieldsRiyadh: AlUla’s popular summer fruit market has been extended until Saturday, August 2, the Royal Commission for AlUla announced on Monday.
Part of the “Khairat AlUla” initiative, the market is being held at the Al-Manshiyah Farmers Market and features a wide variety of locally grown fruits such as mangoes, grapes and figs. The extension comes in response to high demand during the peak agricultural season, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The summer fruit season is one of AlUla’s most important agricultural events. Local farms collectively produce about 49,000 tonnes of fruit annually from around 216,000 trees. The market not only provides farmers and local families with additional sales outlets but also strengthens the connection between agricultural activities and the governorate’s cultural and economic identity.
The initiative aims to empower farmers by improving market access and boosting the sustainability of the agricultural sector in AlUla.
