Hajj minister inspects holy sites ahead of pilgrim arrivals

As part of the Kingdom's preparations for the 2025 Hajj season, Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah conducted an extensive inspection tour of the Holy Sites to assess the readiness of facilities and services for incoming pilgrims.

The minister reviewed key infrastructure and service developments, including the Kadana Al Wadi Towers in Mina, which mark a significant shift in accommodation standards for pilgrims. Several new projects led by the Kadana Development Company were also inspected, with a focus on enhancing the environment and operational capacity of the Holy Sites.

Among the major initiatives scheduled for launch this year is the establishment of a 200-bed emergency hospital in Mina and 71 emergency centers strategically placed along pedestrian routes. Additionally, efforts to improve the comfort of pilgrims include shading and cooling the 85,000 square meter area around the Namirah Mosque with 320 canopies and 350 misting fans.

The ministry has also completed the first phase of upgrading the restroom infrastructure in Mina by replacing 2,116 older units with 61 two-story modern facilities, comprising over 5,600 restrooms.

In line with the Saudi Green Initiative, 20,000 trees have been planted across 290,000 square meters under the Green Sites Project, contributing to increased greenery and climate moderation in the pilgrimage zones.

These inspections are part of ongoing coordination between the Ministry, the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites and Kadana Development Company to ensure seamless services and an enriching experience for pilgrims.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed that over 600,000 pilgrims have already arrived in the Kingdom through land, sea and air, accounting for around 42% of this year's total expected pilgrim visas. Authorities continue to intensify efforts to ensure a safe, organised and spiritually fulfilling Hajj season.
