Qatif governorate has launched its first Plants and Flowers Festival, bringing together government entities, private-sector participants and local families to promote green living and community engagement.

The event, which opened on Tuesday, focuses on encouraging residents to develop home gardens and make use of available spaces for planting, with the aim of improving the urban environment and supporting sustainable practices.

Organisers say the festival also supports tourism and recreation in the governorate, with attention on agricultural and ecotourism activities, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Visitors are offered direct interaction with the agricultural sector through educational booths and guidance sessions led by specialists, alongside displays of modern urban farming methods and sustainable irrigation systems.

The program highlights efficient use of natural resources and links to food security while providing activities for families and children.

The festival runs until April 4 and includes more than 60 booths, a children’s art studio, interactive theatre and competitions for young participants.
