The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) announced on Tuesday that the visa exemption period has extended until the end of this year for those whose visa expired before March 1st without paying any penalties. They will be exempted from all fines related to Emirates ID and work permits provided they leave the country within 31st of December, as reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Earlier, the authorities had set the deadline for exempting violators of the law on the entry and residence of foreigners on November 17th, which is extended for all those that could not leave the UAE due to suspension of flights.

Major-General Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi, Director General of Foreigners Affairs and Ports acknowledged the Cabinet's decision of extension of the amnesty to enable those who overstayed their visas in the country in order to legalise their status.
