Abu Dhabi: Motorists in the capital can now benefit from significant discounts on traffic fines, with authorities launching a new incentive to encourage early payments and reduce financial strain on drivers.

Under the "Pay early, gain surely" initiative, traffic violators will receive up to a 35 per cent discount based on the timing of their payment. If fines are settled within the first 60 days of the violation, a 35 per cent discount will be applied, though this offer excludes serious offences. For payments made after 60 days but within one year, a 25 per cent discount will be granted.

The initiative discourages fine accumulation and promotes responsible financial habits among road users.

In a related development, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) introduced an instalment scheme last year, enabling motorists to pay traffic fines and service fees in flexible instalments. The RTA partnered with financial services app Tabby to implement the system, making fine payment more accessible across the emirate.

These moves reflect broader efforts across the UAE to enhance road compliance while easing the financial burden on residents.
