Orange alert issued as rain, strong winds sweep across UAE

Rain and unstable weather conditions affected parts of the UAE on Wednesday, with forecasters warning of reduced visibility later in the evening.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) said skies would vary from partly cloudy to cloudy, with convective cloud formation bringing rainfall to scattered areas. An orange alert was issued, cautioning that active to strong winds could lift dust and sand, lowering horizontal visibility between 8pm and 10pm.

Showers were reported in several emirates. In Abu Dhabi, rain fell across residential districts and main roads, with vehicles moving through water-covered streets under overcast skies. Garden areas also saw light rainfall.

Dubai experienced steady showers that dampened highways and inner-city roads, while rainfall was also recorded in Sharjah, where residents were seen moving about during the downpour.

Authorities have not reported major disruptions but advised motorists to exercise caution due to wet surfaces and possible dust in open areas.
