Los Angeles: Las Vegas has reportedly been chosen to host the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on December 5, according to multiple media outlets on Tuesday.

Both ESPN and Mexico's TUDN reported that the city will serve as the venue for the draw of the expanded tournament, which will feature 48 teams and be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The draw will allocate the teams into 12 groups, each containing four nations, AFP reported.

Las Vegas also hosted the World Cup draw in 1994 when the U.S. last hosted the tournament, a scenario that will repeat for the 2026 edition.

Initially, ESPN suggested that the newly opened Sphere — a 17,500-seat venue launched in 2023 — was the likely location for the event. However, sources at the Sphere confirmed to AFP that the draw would not be held there. ESPN later updated its report, citing the same confirmation from Sphere representatives.
