New Delhi: India wrapped up its impressive campaign at the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 with a total of 33 medals, showcasing the determination and skill of its athletes. On the final day, Indian competitors added 12 medals across four events, further cementing their success at the tournament.
In Snowshoeing, Indian athletes secured four additional medals, complementing the six won earlier. Vasu Tiwari, Shalini Chauhan, and Tanya each clinched silver in the 25m Snowshoeing event, while Jahangir bagged a bronze in the same category.
The Alpine Skiing segment saw more remarkable performances, with Radha Devi and Nirmala Devi earning silver in the Intermediate Slalom (F01 and F04 categories, respectively). Abhishek Kumar added another silver in the Novice Slalom (M02 category), reinforcing India’s strong presence in the competition.
Cross Country Skiing also brought accolades, as Akriti showcased exceptional endurance to win a bronze medal in the 100m Classical Technique (F02 category).
In Floorball, India's Women's Traditional Team delivered a spirited performance, securing a bronze medal and concluding their campaign on a high note.
Dr. Mallika Nadda, president of Special Olympics Bharat, expressed immense pride in the athletes, stating, “Our athletes have once again demonstrated that with dedication and perseverance, there are no limits to what they can achieve. The Indian contingent finished the Games with an impressive tally of 33 medals, comprising 8 gold, 18 silver, and 7 bronze. India’s strongest performances came in Snowshoeing and Alpine Skiing, securing 10 medals each. The country also earned 6 medals in Snowboarding, while Short Track Speed Skating, Cross Country Skiing, and Floorball contributed 4, 2, and 1 medal respectively.
The Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 concluded with India celebrating a remarkable campaign, highlighting the resilience and excellence of its athletes on the global stage.
