San Francisco: After reporting 303 vulnerabilities and a cumulative total of 3,159 vulnerabilities as of 2022, an analysis report inferred that Google Chrome is the most vulnerable browser alive, IANS reported.

Atlas VPN released the report with figures based on data from the

VulDB vulnerability database. The time frame was from January 1, 2022, to October 5, 2022.

Only Google Chrome reported five new vulnerabilities in the first five days of October. They include CVE-2022-3318, CVE-2022-3314, CVE-2022-3311, CVE-2022-3309, and CVE-2022-3307.

The report states that the CVE programme tracks security flaws and vulnerabilities across platforms. Though the database does not list details for the said flaws yet, the report says that the vulnerabilities could corrupt the memories of computer systems.

However, users could fix the situation by updating to Google Chrome version 106.0.5249.61.

The report further says that Mozilla's Firefox browser is in second place for vulnerabilities, reporting 117 of them.

Regarding Microsoft Edge, it reported 103 vulnerabilities as of October 5. This is 61 per cent more than the whole year of 2021. Edge had 806 vulnerabilities since its release.

In the case of Safari, it has the minimum levels of vulnerabilities. In the first three quarters of 2022, the browser reported 26 vulnerabilities, and cumulative vulnerabilities were 1,139 since its release, the report stated.

The Opera browser, however, has not reported any vulnerabilities till now in 2022 and only 344 since its release.

Safari, owned by Apple, reached more than one billion users in May 2022. Apple is relentlessly working on it to ensure that browser is secure and safer to use.
