SpaceX launches 24 Starlink satellites to enhance global internet connectivity

SpaceX successfully launched its first Starlink mission of 2025, deploying 24 satellites into orbit to strengthen its global satellite internet network.
The launch took place on January 6, 2025, at 2:13 a.m. IST, from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
A Falcon 9 rocket carried the 24 satellites into low Earth orbit, marking another milestone in SpaceX’s ambitious mission to provide high-speed internet worldwide. The rocket’s first stage achieved a successful landing on the droneship "Just Read the Instructions" stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. This marked the 17th reuse of the booster, which had previously supported 10 Starlink launches and the Crew-5 mission to the International Space Station, reported Space.com.
The upper stage of the Falcon 9 is scheduled to release the satellites into orbit approximately 65 minutes after liftoff. These new additions will join the Starlink constellation, which already includes more than 6,850 active satellites, according to astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell, who tracks satellite operations.
Starlink, developed by SpaceX, is the largest satellite network ever created, aimed at delivering reliable, high-speed internet access to underserved and remote regions across the globe. With this latest launch, the network continues its rapid expansion, solidifying SpaceX’s dominance in satellite-based internet technology.
This mission follows a record-breaking 2024 for SpaceX, with numerous successful launches and advancements in reusable rocket technology. The company plans to maintain an aggressive launch schedule throughout 2025, ensuring steady growth of its satellite constellation.
